FastFeet Answers ‘Those’ Questions – Q&A Part 1

Lets be honest. Summer has just about passed and as a result we have been extremely quiet, and for many good reasons but I won’t bore you with long stories now.

Hello to you! I’m FastFeet, founder of this long running media site of all things SEGA and techy. Instead of boring you with those long stories, I’m almost certain that those of you who have stayed loyal to SEGA Media (and maybe even FastFeet Media) since we’ve opened, have a few questions you’ve wanted to ask. Well I’m going to answer them below, whilst I hope to answer the majority of those questions you have I’m sure I won’t answer everything… and that’s what the comments section at the bottom IS FOR! So let’s get started:

What was with the on/off/on downtime you had recently?
Our website SEGA Media and fellow spiky enthusiasts Sonic Wrecks are hosted by myself (www.grahamseward.co.uk). The websites did keep going offline on our old server where everything is stored – due to old hardware repeatedly failing. At the end of August we moved to a new goliath of a server to host our various websites and services, just so that you guys can enjoy more reliable websites and some new upcoming things too that require some power!

Why have you started adding Music from scratch again?
I had a slight realisation not so long ago that Video Game Music should be tagged in a way that the person listening to the music or those folks on the interweb you might wanna share what you’re listening to, makes sense.

Whilst I do think the artists/composers of each track should get credit, tagging them as the artists was messy and no one knew what the hell you were listening to (nor did you potentially). They still get credit in the album artist tag, but overall I wanted to make sure that your SEGA listening experience is a pleasurable as possible.

SEGA Media will once again be the only place on the internet with ALL the SEGA music & ALL the Sonic the Hedgehog music with album artwork and tagged 100% correctly. It’s what we do.

Why are updates so random?
Right now only myself performs updates on SEGA Media. I do want people to come and help at a staff level but the main reason I don’t is that if people are to help they need to have a reasonable understanding of media. We don’t do half-measures here, everything you see on this website is crafted with an eye for detail and a passion for that Japanese gaming giant, SEGA.

So anything found on the website is the best quality you will find anywhere on the interwebz. If you think you’ve got the skills to help, contact me and I’ll see if you are worthy :D

What is SEGASonic:TV and when the hell can we actually expect to see anything?
SEGASonic:TV was the world’s first set of videos that actually had some point of structure to them; making it a TV show essentially with news, reviews, adverts and even music videos.

There’s been a big gap whilst I’ve been deciding what to do with the damn thing. There is a new set of videos due to be released before the end of 2011 recapping events oif the last 4 years, as well as a new live TV service called SEGASonic:TV LiVE!

Why the weird/dark imagery on the site?
Erm.. it’s there mainly to get your thinking caps on, some of the images used provide references to some history of ours and something upcoming items I wanted to tease you about. Apologies about that…

Why have news and blog entries disappeared?
SEGA Media is going to do what it says on the tin. Showcase media, whether it be audio, videos or images from SEGA’s past, present and future as well as what the community has to show off. The site will still have blog entries such as this one.

What are these ‘big’ projects that are rumoured?
SEGASonic:TV & Black Dwarf’s return as well as new User Uploads area. You’ll have to wait until part 2 of this article where all will be revealed. Keep one eye open and 2 sneakers on the ground, we’re not down and out yet.
